Clyde William “Derby” Costner, age 83, died March 5, 2009, at Baptist Convalescent Center.
He proudly served his country a total of 20 years, serving two terms in Germany during World War II, and also having served in Korea.
Preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Webb Costner; father, Bruce Wilson Costner and Ada Melton Cosnter; one brother, Roy Compton Costner; five sisters, Leta Mae Costner, Roxie Velma Costner, Kima Lillian Costner Suttles, Beulah Costner Carmichael, and Trula Costner McGaha.
He is survived by one son, William “Bill” Costner and wife, Trula Costner; one granddaughter, Wendy Costner Reed and husband Jeff Reed; two great-grandchildren, Casey and Kaylee Reed.
He is also survived by two sisters, Zola Costner Ramsey, of Newport, and Betty Costner Pierce, of Johnson City; one brother-in-law, Cecil McGaha; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will meet at Union Cemetery at 10:45 a.m., Saturday morning, March 7, 2009, for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service.
Military honors will be provided by East Tennessee Honor Guard.
Interment will be at Union Cemetery.
