She graduated from Hiwassee College and taught school for many years. Mrs. Widner was preceded in death by her husband Joe Widner; parents, Elizabeth and Matt Smith; brother, M.D. Smith; and sister, Juanita (Barney) Cate. Survivors include her daughter, Joette Begue; sister, Carolyn Jo Henry; sisters-in-law, Betty Smith and Helen Smith; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Beech Springs Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday at Beech Springs Baptist Church. Family and friends will meet 11 AM Saturday in Beech Springs Cemetery for graveside service and interment with Rev. Richard Compton and Rev. Brandon Cate officiating.
