Myrtle M. Benson, age 81, of Newport, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 10, 2007 following a short illness. She was retired from Detroit Gasket Company after 25 years of employment. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother; and a faithful member of Edgemont Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie “Good” Benson; parents, Ben and Rebecca Styles; son-in-law, Glen Holston; brothers, Garfield, Luther, Dave and Dewey Styles; sisters, Rinda Boley, Cora Costner and Mae Styles; brothers-in-law, Herbert Costner, Tom Benson and wife Suzanne, Walter Benson and Herbert Costner; sisters-in-law, Norma Styles, Vergie Benson and Linda Benson. She is survived by her children, Charles Benson, Jr., and wife Marilyn, Peggy Holston, Willard “Coot” Benson and wife Linda, and Judy Benson all of Newport; brothers, Ernest Styles of Newport and Monroe Styles of Elmer, N.J.; sister, Edna Evans; sisters-in-law, Ellie Styles and Bonnie Benson Loya of Newport; brothers-in-law, Willie Benson, James Benson and wife Juanita; grandchildren, Chuck Benson and wife Tabbatha of Jefferson City, Alecia Benson Allen and husband Chris of Knoxville, Jayson Chrisman, Michael Chrisman and Jessica Benson; great grandchildren, Ty Allen, Tatum Allen, and Abby Benson, all of Knoxville; many nieces, nephews, and a very special friend, Edith Holloway. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 13, 2007 followed by the funeral service at 7:00 pm in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. James McFalls officiating. Family and friends will meet at Union Cemetery 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 14, 2007 for graveside services. Pallbearers will be; Marty Costner, Jody Evans, Dean Evans, Jimmy Blazer, Glen Shoemaker, Jay Chrisman and Carroll Barger. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Edgemont Church of God, 202 Clevenger Cut Off Road, Newport, TN 37821.
