Monroe E. Styles, age 91, of Pittsgrove died Monday morning, November 29, 2010 in the Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Township. He had been in declining health for the past four years.
Born in Cosby, Tennessee to the late Ben and Rebecca Jane (Gilliand) Styles, he was the husband of the late Norma J. Freshour Styles. He had been a resident of Pittsgrove since 1958 and prior to that he had resided in Seabrook and Tennessee.
Before his retirement, Monroe had been employed at Seabrook Farms for 40 years, and prior to that he had been a logger in Tennessee.
He was an avid horseman.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Crescitelli and Mary Frances Harbs both of Pittsgrove; one sister, Edna Evans; one brother, Ernest Styles and one sister-in-law, Ellie Styles all of Newport, TN.; four grandchildren, Gary Michael Harbs and his wife Beth of Pittsgrove, Charles Styles, Jr. and his wife Laurie of Rosenhayn, Louis Crescitelli, III of Franklin and Rebecca Crescitelli Souraj and her husband Jason of Bellmawr; five great-grandchildren,(to whom he was fondly known as “PopPop with the big hat”), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles B. Styles.
Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Thursday, December 2nd at 11 AM. Burial will take place at Olivet Cemetery in Pittsgrove Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10 to 11 AM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Monroe’s memory be made to SJH HospiceCare, P.O. Box 160, Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
