Maples, Ruth White-born August 16, 1919. Passed away January 30, 2010. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband J. Clifford Maples and her parents, J Walt White and Nora Keeble White. She will be missed by her surviving family. Brother Burl K White; his children: Bob White, Chuck White and Denise Wheat; their children: Kayla White, Jackie Diaz, Casey White, Megan Wheat and Kurtis Wheat; brother-in-law J.P. Maples; sisters-in-law Lillie Campbell, Ruth Pierce, Barbra (Demp) Maples; special niece Patsy Banks; cousins Doug and Delaine Hutchens; special nephew Ron Maples, and many loving nieces and nephews. Ruth was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church since 1932. She served as church clerk for 38 years, Sunday school secretary for numerous years, and sang in the choir for more than 30 years. Ruth was retired from Union Carbide Nuclear Corporation, Y 12 with 22 years of service. Ruth was a member of the PBX club (switch board operators) for 50 years. Special thanks to the staff of Dialysis Clinic of Knoxville, the staff of Holston Healthcare and the bone replacement therapist that kept her mobile for more than 20 years. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Highland South Memorial Park Chapel. Graveside services will be Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Eusebia Presbyterian Church Cemetery and officiated by Dr. William Sims III and Rev. Jeff Spangler. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley Grove Baptist Church, Family Life Center or Mission Funds, 9000 Sevierville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920 or the National Kidney Foundation of East Tennessee, 4450 Walker Boulevard, Suite #2, Knoxville, TN 37917-1523.
