WALKER, REV. DR. JAMES (JIM) HENRY - of Harrison, died Friday morning, in a Knoxville hospital. A native of Knoxville, Rev. Walker had lived in Hamilton Co. for many years. He was a graduate of Carson Newman College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He received his doctrine of ministry from the Luther Rice Seminary. Rev. Walker had pastored churches in Texas and Southeast Tennessee and served as pastor of the Avondale Baptist Church in Chattanooga for 14 years. He was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Walker; two sisters, Margaret Clabo and Barbara Walker; and brother, Herbert Walker.
Survivors are his wife, Harriett (Peggy) Walker; two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Beth) Mason of Chattanooga and Mrs. Steve (Rose) Hixson of Knoxville; son, James A. Walker of Apison; mother, Cora Walker of Knoxville; brother, Jack Walker of Knoxville; seven grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the chapel with his sons-in-law, Rev. Bill Mason and Rev. Steve Hixson officiating. Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International or the American Parkinson Disease Association. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-9 p.m. and Sunday one hour before the service at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Rd.
