Nobbia Estell Ogle Ownby, age 89 of Sevierville, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014.
Mrs. Ownby was born and raised in Sevier County, one of many children. She was blessed with a Christian upbringing. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church from the time she was a little girl until she passed. She loved singing at the church and teaching the kids. Mrs. Ownby was known as the "Jelly Maker" in Gatlinburg. She worked at the Jelly House for many years. She even made jelly for two United States Presidents.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Ownby; daughter, Reba Emma Lee Ownby; brothers, Beecher, Buel, and Ted Ogle; sisters, Ella Mae Ogle, Reba Shelton, and Ruby Reagan; 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Survivors:
Sons and Daughters-in-law: Ronald and Sue Ownby, Robert and Candy Ownby, Willie Ownby, John Olin and Carolyn Ownby
Daughter and son-in-law: Ella and Dwight Ball
Many beloved Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great-Great Grandchildren
Sisters and Brothers-in-law: Johnnie and John Allen, Ina and Clarence Lane, Minnie Harper, Vita Ayers, and Lucille Hatcher
The family will receive friends 1-2 PM Wednesday with funeral service following at 2 PM at Mountain View Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Parton and Rev. Billy Ogle officiating.
