SEDRO-WOOLLEY, WA—Mae Self, 81, a former Del Rio resident, passed away on February 17, 2001, in Sedro-Woolley, WA.
Mae was born on January 18, 1920, in Del Rio, Tennessee, the eldest of nine children of Waitsel and Latha Clark Grigsby. She was raised and attended school in Tennessee. On December 24, 1935 she was united in marriage to Charlie “Rowe” Self, in Tennessee, and they made their home there until 1945, when they moved to Hamilton, WA.
Mae was preceded in death by her husband, “Rowe”, in 1991; a daughter, Wanda Armstrong; two infant sons; a brother Charlie Grigsby; and one grandson, Shawn Self.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Kathleen Self, and Melvin and Ruby Self; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carroll and Ted Overstreet and Nellie and David Pressley; three sisters, Lucille Stokley, Bird Stokley and Dorothy Willis; four brothers, Claude, John, Denton and Junior Grigsby; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, February 21, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Northwest Missionary Baptist Church, in Hamilton, WA. Memorials to the American Cancer Society are suggested.
