HURST, RUFE, JR. - 83 of Talbott passed away Saturday, April 09, 2011 at the Heritage Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in Japan. Mr. Hurst retired from Rust Engineering, Birmingham, Alabama as an electrical superintendent; he managed electrical construction projects throughout the United States and Africa; and was a member of the IBEW for over 50 years. Preceded in death by his parents Rufe and Mary Gipsie Hurst; sisters Mabel Williams and Townzella Kesling; brothers William Zeb Hurst, Claude Wayne Hurst, and Paul Ray Hurst. Survivors include his wife Gina Hurst; step-son Gary Whitlock of Talbott; step-daughter Joan Bunch of Morristown; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Roger Mack Hurst of Palm Coast, Florida; sister-in-law Essie Hurst of White Pine; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 in the chapel of Mayes Family Services, West with Rev. Danny Lamb officiating. Military graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements by Mayes Family Services of Morristown, West Chapel.
