(May 10, 1920 - April 8, 2008) U.S. Veteran Thomas Carroll Bible, age 87, of Newport, passed away, Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee. He was a member of Clay Creek Baptist Church. He had retired from Stokely Can Shop after 25 years and he enjoyed farming all his adult life. He was Honorably Discharged from the U S Army and a Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Martha Bible, brother Shields Bible. He is survived by his wife Juanita Holt Bible of Newport, children Martha Dell (Ronnie) Williams of Newport, Tommy (Linda) Bible of Dandridge, brother Frank (Esther) Bible of Newport, grandchildren Johnny Carroll (Jeanna) Williams of Newport, Rhonda Dell Williams of Newport, Thomas McKinley Bible of Dandridge, Jill Suzanne Thomson of Dandridge, great-grandchildren William and Morgan Howell of Tallmadge, OH, Shayne Hemminger of Newport, niece Cheryl (Jack) Presnell of Newport, nephew David (Dyann) Bible of Newport. Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Thursday April 10, 2008 at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Craig Ward and Rev. Glen Ball officiating. Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Thursday prior to the services at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday April 11, 2008 in Clay Creek Cemetery with L/Cpl Charles Roberts DAV Chapter 102 conducting military graveside services. Pallbearers are McKinley Bible, David Bible, John David Bible, Dana Bible, Todd Presnell, Chad Presnell, Jack Presnell. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Legion Remodeling Fund , c/o Willie Green, P.O. Box 1001, Newport, TN 37822.
