U.S. Veteran Mike Hightower, age 62, of Dandridge, passed away, Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Cross Road Tabernacle Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mable Hightower; grandparents, Vol and Effie Hightower, Alma Lane; and mother-in-law, Ersia Valentine. He is survived by his wife, Pat Hightower, Dandridge; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Randy Swann, Newport; grandchildren, Travis and Lauren Swann of Newport; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack and Miriam Valentine, Dandridge, Robert and Vana Valentine, Chilhowie, VA; Jimmy Valentine, Cookeville, TN; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Euretha and Bud Carson,, Newport, Scottie and Norman Derry, Newport, Johnnie Kate and J. R. Davis, Dublin, VA; aunts and uncle, Marcia and Bill Wallin, Arlene Hightower, Betty B. Lane, all of Newport; and Joyce Lane of Del Rio; also several nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm Friday, November 20, 2009 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Hal Kirk and Rev. J. D. Sisk officiating. Burial will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, November 21, 2009 in Open Door (Phillips) Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral.
