[S24] The Newport Plain Talk, (http://www.newportplaintalk.com), 27 Jul 2010. Mrs. Myra Ruth Hartsell Ball, age 80, of Newport, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010, at Mercy Hospital West in Knoxville. Mrs. Ball was a retired registered nurse anesthetist at Mims Clinic, Valentine-Shults Hospital, and Baptist Hospital of Cocke County. She was a graduate of the Registered Nurses Program of St. Mary's. She was also a 1954 graduate of the anesthetist program at Grace Hospital of Detroit. During her career, Mrs. Ball assisted with over 6000 births. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Zimri Ball, son Myron Zimri Ball, parents William and Mabel Holdway Hartsell, sister Elouise Hartsell Crumb, brothers-in-law Larue Crumb and Hollis "Frosty" Carrell, and nephew Kerry Dale Carrell. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jeff "Fud" and Bonnie Ball of Newport; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Robert Pack of Acworth, GA; daughter-in-law Valeria Ball of Brentwood, TN; grandchildren Hunter Ball and William Ball of Brentwood, TN; Miranda Ball Allen, Whitney Ball, Jennifer Ball, and Allison Ball, all of Newport; and Evan Pack and Kaitlyn Pack, both of Acworth, GA; sister Alma Jean Carrell of Newport; and nephew and wife Larry and Karen Crumb of Macomb, MI. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Newport, with Dr. Rich Lloyd officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Union Cemetery for the 10:00 a.m. interment. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to TV Ministries at First Baptist Church, 261 East Broadway, Newport, TN 37821.
