He is survived by his wife of 32 years Denise Whitehead Nichols of Newport; son Samuel (Alyssa) Nichols; grandson Eli Nichols of Gray; step-father Arlie Allen; father-in-law Charles Whitehead; sister Bridget (Jeff) Boyd; brother James Allen (Judy) Nichols; brother-in-law John Whitehead; sisters-in-law Patricia Whitehead and Deborah Stokely, all of Newport; aunts Claudette Shults of Newport and Algia Nichols of Harriman; nieces and nephews Chastina Williams, Benjamin James (Michelle) Williams, Rebecca Boyd, Daniel (Brittani) Ruble, Ben Bewley, Andy Stokely, Tammy Nichols, Kirstina Bolland, and Stephanie (Michael) Wils. Additional survivors include aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many special family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014, in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:30 p.m. prior to the services.
