DAVIS, BURL DELOZIER - age 91, of White Pine, passed away Feb. 8,2008. Retiring from American Enka in 1982, he was an avid fisherman and camper who loved to fish for trout in the cold streams of Cherokee, NC. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Danilla Wood Davis; three sons and their spouses, Burl E. and Billie Davis of Talbott, Cleamon and Lois Davis of Nashville, Jack and Sharon Davis of White Pine; daughter, Sandra Fowler and husband, Allen of White Pine; 11 grandchildren, Danny, Brent, Davy, Marc, Joel, Steven and Candace Davis, Craig and Ryan Fowler, Summer Phillips and Michelle Rucker; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Sherbit of Newport, and Minnie Ford of Brunswick, Ohio; step-sister, Margie Woody of White Pine; brothers, J. P. Davis of White Pine and Danny Davis of Georgia. Mr. Davis attended the First Baptist Church of White Pine. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II. He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. J. P. Davis, a well known Baptist preacher who served throughout East Tennessee and Western North Carolina, and his mother, Lillie Candace Jenkins Davis, also several brothers and sisters. Funeral service will be 8 P. M. Monday at the First Baptist Church of White Pine with the Rev. T. H. Farrell and Rev. Charles Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 til 8 P. M. prior to the service. Graveside service will be 11 A. M. Tuesday at the Jefferson Memorial Garden, with Military Graveside services by the Morristown VFW Post No. 5266 in charge.
