Louise Anderson Huffman-age 96, of Newport, passed away on January 17, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Clara Anderson, her husband, Hubert Huffman, and her son, Maurice “Diz” Huffman, seven siblings, and many close friends. She was born and grew up in Limestone, TN and is a graduate of Washington College Academy. After marriage, she and her husband operated two “ five & dime” stores in downtown Newport. After her husband’s death, she continued to operate one store until 1965. As the eldest member of Newport First United Methodist Church, she faithfully attended Sunday School and church. One of her favorite activities was attending plays presented by the Newport Theatre Guild. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Huffman Minga; daughter-in-law, Diane Huffman Driskill; grandchildren, Ellen and David Shadeed, Donald and Robin Minga, Kurt and Trisha Huffman, Wes and Robin Minga, Kristie Huffman Drybread and Rick Drybread, Kellye and Charlie Smith, and Philip and Suzanne Minga; great-grandchildren, Michael Shadeed, Rachel Shadeed, Zachary Tolbert, Caleb Tolbert, Joseph Minga, Madison Minga, Garrett Minga, Michaela Minga, Abbott Huffman Drybread, Devon Huffman Drybread, Olivia Diane Smith, cousins, nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 21, at 1:00pm in the chapel of Newport First United Methodist. The service will follow at 2:00pm with the Rev. Freddrick Long and the Rev. Marta Cogburn officiating. Interment following service at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church elevator fund, P.O.
