He was a veteran having served in the United States Army as well as the Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Nancy Gentry; brothers, L. C., Sanford and Pete Gentry; sister, Casamae Gentry-Styles; special nephew, J. D. Styles. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Sutton Gentry, of Newport; son and daughter in law, Dickie and Denise Gentry, Newport; daughter, Michelle Gentry-Trent and husband Jeff of Morristown, TN; brothers, Remus Gentry and wife Marie, Marvin Gentry and wife Katie, Ralph Gentry and wife Pat, Donald “Duck” Gentry and Jack Gentry; sisters, Mary Gozikowski and Hazel Styles; grandchildren, Ashlee Gentry and Autumn Gentry; and two special loved babies, Rhyleigh Hill and Bayleigh Trent; one great grandchild; also many special nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 27, 2010 in Resthaven Memorial Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
