Gertie M. Samples , 83, Johnson City, formerly of Fairlawn Drive, Greeneville, and a native of the Point Pleasant Community of Cocke County, passed away, Sunday, November 5, at Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church of Greeneville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Alexander and Ninnie Holt French, and a sister, Exie F. Smith, of Ohio.
She is survived by her husband, Burl Samples , son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Agnes B. Samples , of Johnson City; and two brothers, Tilmon French, of Newport, and Allen French, of Morristown.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, at New Home Free Will Baptist Church in Newport, with Rev. Rodney Bailey and Rev. Carl Petering officiating. Interment at the New Home Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jeffers Mortuary, Greeneville. In lieu of flowers make contributions to Alzheimer's Association, N.E. TN Chapter, 207 N. Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
