Creed B. Hill, of Knoxville, formerly of Newport, passed away Wednesday, July 11, at his home. He was a member of Newport Masonic Lodge 234, life member of the Newport Rescue Squad, a WWII veteran, and was retired from American Enka. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Edith Freshour Hill; son, Ronald Keith Hill; parents, David Palmer and Bonnie Teague Hill; and sister, Ruth Shorter. He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Norman Hill, of Knoxville; sons and daughters-in-law, Blaine and Melanie Hill, of Smyrna; Roger Dale and Margaret E. Hill, of Sumter, S.C.; Ben and Anna Wilson; son, Bobby Wilson Jr.; daughter, Carlene Doig; daughters and sons-in-law, Tamara and the Rev. Gary Stiles, Julia and Sam Hamilton; grandchildren, Alex and Dale Hill II, Emily, Brittany, and Taylor Hill, Missy Mize, Morgan Mize, Dillion Lane, and Catherine, Deborah, Christina, and Alex Doig, Jessica, Gary Jr.,, John, and Paul Stiles, Jason and Chad Bailey, Samantha and Charles Hamilton; sisters, Louise Fox, Maxie Lamb, Thelma Rainwater, Wanda Collins, Eva Derrick; brothers, J.C. Hill and Jr. Hill. The family will receive friends Friday, July 13, 2007, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. with Newport Lodge 234, followed by the funeral service with the Rev. Bill Murr officiating.
