Mr. Everette 'Big E' Darnell Woody , age 55 , of Newport , passed away Tuesday morning , March 1 , 2016 , after a six-months battle with cancer.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was employed by Blaylock Construction as a heavy equipment operator. 'Big E' enjoyed the outdoors and riding his Harley.
He was preceded in death by his father Trevette 'Herb' Woody , grandparents Frank and Dovie Woody and Darnell and Susie Freeman, sister Wilma Dean Woody , uncles Emmett Woody , Jess Woody , and Mack Woody , and aunts Sylvia Ogle, Phoebe Williamson, Ida Woody , Pearl Hicks, Irene Phillips, and Marlene Jenkins.
Survivors include his girlfriend Jackie Thurman of Sevierville, daughter Casey and two grandchildren, all of Newport , mother Darnella Woody of Newport , sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Allen Gann of Tunnel Hill, Georgia; brothers and sisters-in-law Rick and Janice Woody of Dandridge, Ock and Cissy Woody of White Pine; nephews and nieces Trevette and Anna Gann, Emma Woody , Leigha Woody , Jaxon Woody , and Caylor Gann; aunts and uncles Orlevia and Leroy Ellison, Wendall and Joann Freeman, Bobbie and Jimmy Williamson, Henerietta and Wesley Butler, Jerry Jenkins, Louise and Lonnie McGaha, and Sarah Woody . Additional survivors include a host of cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016 , at the Clark Cemetery (Deep Gap) in Del Rio with Rev. Robert Williamson officiating.
Special friends Mark L. Kesterson, Chris McAbee, Eugene Ellison, Matt Smerdel, Budd Shaffee, and Glen E. Kreitzer will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00—9:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016 , at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.
