Lillian J. Phillips, 75, of 1734 Hugh Drive, passed away October 25, 2006, at a local health facility.Mrs. Phillips was born June 14, 1931, in Edwina, Tenn., daughter of the late Reuben and Cora Ford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister,Geraldine Koprowski, and a brother, Ricky Ford. Mrs. Phillips, a graduate of ETSU with extended study at UT, was a teacher in the Cocke County, Jefferson County, and Morristown-Hamblen School Systems for 33 years. She and her husband were members of Hillcrest Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Jimmy Phillips; two daughters, Melissa Phillips, of Chattanooga, and Jamie Wallace (Curt), of Rome, Ga.; two granddaughters, Lara and Katie Wallace, of Rome, Ga.; one sister, Helen Lee, of Cartersville, Ga.; one brother, Henry Ford, of Brookpark, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Newport, with the Rev. David Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home on Friday, October 27, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. Honorary pallbearers are members of the DB Noe and Ross Townsend Sunday School classes. Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mrs. Lillian J. Phillips.
