Roy Alvin "Al" Cagle, age 67, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 18, 2009.
He was a devoted and loving husband for forty-eight years and a dedicated and loving father and grandfather known as "Pops".
He filled everyone's lives with joy and humor. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grassy Fork, Tenn., and attended Pleasant View Baptist Church in Talbott, Tenn.
He enjoyed bluegrass music, fishing, and camping, but he mostly enjoyed playing practical jokes on family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Evolyn Cagle.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Henderson Cagle; daughters, Cheryl (Ray) Lewelling and Deanna (Matthew) Smith; son, Charles (Amanda) Cagle; grandchildren, Brian and Lauren Bridges, Savannah and Jacob Smith, and Warren and Jesse Cagle; step grandchildren, Jessica Lewelling; and sister, Jean Cagle Dorsey.
Funeral services will be 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2009, at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Parrott of Pleasant View Church officiating.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Union Cemetery in Newport.
The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday prior to the services at the funeral home.
