Bob D. Morton, age 84, of Maryville, went to be with his Lord, September 29, 2011 after a battle with cancer. Preceded in death by: Parents, Fred A. Morton Sr. and Grace Fuller Morton; Brothers, Fred A. Morton Jr. and John Morton. Survivors include: Beloved wife of 62 years, Ila Mae Morton; Son, Phil Morton; Daughter, Diane Asbury; Grandchildren, Jesse Asbury & wife Tristianne and Jeremy Asbury; Sister, Wilma Garren & husband Eugene; Sisters-in-law, Mary Morton and Aileen Morton Tarkington; many special friends. Funeral service will be at 3:30 PM, Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Smith West Chapel with Rev. Ernest Condee and Rev. CM Titlow officiating. Private family entombment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Bob & Ila Mae (Acton) Morton anniversary
Bob and Ila Mae (Acton) Morton, of Maryville, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary May 31.
The couple were married May 31, 1949, in Chatsworth, Ga. J.W. Dooly officiated.
Their family includes children Phil Morton, of Maryville, and Diane Asbury, of Maryville. They have two grandchildren, Jesse Asbury, of Norman, Okla., and Jeremy Asbury, of Maryville.
Mr. Morton was self-employed and worked for 47 years in the transportation of children for the Blount County School System. Mrs. Morton also worked in the transportation of children for Blount County for 35 years as well as several years for the Maryville City Schools.
They attend Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Morton enjoys quilting and Mr. Morton enjoys visiting with friends.
