GILLAND, M. OLIVER – age 89, of Townsend, died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 1998, at his home. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company, a member of ALCOA's 25 Year Club, a member of the Little River Lumber Co. Museum. He was preceded in death by a baby daughter; parents, Toliver A. and Cora Gilland; brothers, Walter, William F., Commodore and Leonard Gilland; sister, Rosetta Strickland; great-grandson, Ryan Singleton. Survivors: wife, Leafie Dunn Gilland; sons and daughters-in-law, C.A. and Loretta Gilland of Maryville, Oliver and Lynn Gilland of North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Bobby Brackin of Townsend; daughter, Lois Jackson of Maryville; grandchildren, Debbie and husband, Mike Greaser, Bobby (Franny) and wife, Connie Brackin, David and wife, Janice Gilland, Jeanne and husband, Kelly Pearmain, Rebecca and husband, Ralph Martin, Amanda and husband, Mike Singleton, Lori Garner, Trent Gilland; great-grandchildren, Stephanie and husband, Gary Perkins, Kelly Greaser, Curt Brackin, Kacy Brackin, Kenda Roberts, Gregory Pearmain, Stephen Pearmain, Kayla Singleton, Christian Singleton; sister-in-law, Pauline Gilland of Maryville. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, West Chapel, Smith Mortuary, Maryville.
