- In a will written in March 1949, Elizabeth Gaston Mateer of Wooster, Ohio,
bequeathed $1000 each to three grandchildren, Mary Mateer Randal, Richard M.
Douglas and Samuel N. Douglas: "Inasmuch as my grandson William Gaston Mateer
to whom I would have bequeathed $1000, predeceased me", that sum is now to go
to his nephew, "my great-grandson", William Randall Jr., this legacy to be paid
in U. S. Government bonds, for which either or both of his parents may receipt
without the appointment of a guardian; to granddaughter Nancy Hole Schaack,
$5000 in U. S. Government bonds; to daughter Dorothy Mateer, all stock in the
First National Bank of East Liverpool, Ohio, "which stock I consider a family
heirloom"; all remaining estate, share and share alike to son John G. Mateer
and daughters, Mary Mateer Douglas and Dorothy Mateer, these three to be
Executors.
