Fred T. Hardy, 91, formerly of Newport and Jensen Beach, Fla., died Monday, January 26, 2004, in Sevierville, TN. For many years he was the owner of Hodge-Hardy Insurance Agency in Newport. Born in White Pine where he managed the family farm until 1962, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; parents, W.T. and Minnie Hardy; sister, Alice Witt; and brothers, Clifford and Charlie Frank Hardy. He is survived by his daughter, Gale Anderson (Charles), of Kodak; son, Taylor Hardy, of Lake Worth, Fla.; grandchildren, Misty Anderson (John Tirro), Kelli Anderson, Chris Anderson, Fredrick Hardy, and Victoria Hardy; great-grandchildren, Anderson and Trevor Tirro and Alexandra Harpst-Anderson; daughter-in-law, Susan Hardy; sister, Lettie Mae Sams; and brother, Floyd Hardy. Memorial celebration will be held at First United Methodist Church, 212 Washington Ave., Newport, TN 37821 on Thursday, February 5, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the church or to Sevier County Food Ministry, 800 Old Knoxville Hwy., Sevierville, TN 37862.
