Mattie Rhea Barger, age 88, of Parrottsville, went to be with her Lord peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at her home.
She was a member of Dutch Bottoms Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Betty Askew; brothers, George, Ed, Burl, and Robin; and her infant sister, Nannie B. Askew.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Fred B. Barger, of Parrottsville; son and daughter-in-law, John L. and Peggy Barger, of Parrottsville; grandchildren and their spouses, LeAnna and Mike Beeler and John and April Barger, all of Parrottsville, and great-grandchildren, Ryan Adcox, Charley Barger, Chase Barger, Garrett Beeler, and Jason Beeler; special sister, Lorene Moore; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Ruby Askew, Cecil and Liz Askew, Wayne and Lois Askew, all of Parrottsville; special caregiver, Heather Arnold, of Parrottsville. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Ottinger and the Rev. Manson Lee officiating.
Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2006, in Dutch Bottoms Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral services. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
