Charles Dolphus Smelcer, age 90, of Parrottsville, born August 23, 1916 passed away, Friday, September 29, 2006, at home after a battle with several health problems.
He was a member of Luther Memorial Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He drove a school bus for 15 years, also farmed and did some carpenter work.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene (Barger) Smelcer; parents, Homer Eugene and Rhoda (Ottinger) Smelcer; brothers, J.D. and Bill Smelcer. He is survived by his wife and caregiver, Eldise (Frazier) Smelcer; brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Inez Smelcer of Parrottsville; sisters, Marie Ottinger and Alice Rader both of Parrottsville; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, October 1, 2006 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, with Pastor Connie Bramlett officiating, with burial in Luther Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-9 pm Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Manes Funeral Home.
