James “Jim” Robert Hall, 92, of 10 Sulphur Springs Drive, Greenville, South Carolina, died Wednesday, November 11.
Born in Newport, he was the son of the late Samuel (Singing Sam) D. and Emeline Ellison Hall and the widower of Ollie Murr Hall.
He was a former supervisor at several area textile mills and later self-employed as a home contractor.
He was a member of Calvary First Baptist Church and Baracca Class.
Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde (Beatrice) Good, Mr. and Mrs. David (Faye) Aiken, Mr. and Mrs. Alan (Belinda) Hilliard, Greenville, South Carolina, and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie (Mildred) Pierce, Marietta, South Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Furman (Norma) Hall, Easley, South Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Mary) Raines, Newport, and Mrs. Vernon (Ellen) Bailey, Wood River, Illinois; three brothers, Frank Hall, Rev. Ransom Hall and Alfred Hall, Newport; eight grandchildren, Debbie Hall Grant, Beverly Good Hawkins, James Pierce, Phil Green, Tammy Aiken Franklin, Ashley Hilliard, Jennifer Hilliard, and Brian Hilliard; six great-grandchildren, Sean Hyder, Amy Cooley, Brad Hawkins, Derek Hawkins, David Franklin, and Elizabeth Franklin; and great-great-grandchild, Kayla Cooley.
Service was 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary First Baptist Church. Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Brian Hilliard, James Pierce, Sean Hyder, Brad and Derek Hawkins, and David Franklin. Honorary escort was Baracca Sunday school class, Calvary First Baptist Church.
