Mr. Ottis Earl (Spot) Bryant, 84, of Newport, born July 10, 1916, died September 21, 2000, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County after a lengthy illness.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gray and Hattie Bryant; daughter, June Bryant; sisters, Vera Moore and Zella Acton; brothers, Carmack Bryant and Allen Bryant; and daughter-in-law, Otabe Bryant.
Survivors: wife, Ethel McCarter Bryant of the home; children, Claude Ruble, Dorothy (Herbert) Williamson, Earl (Christine) Bryant, Linda (Crayton) Norris, Louella (Randall) Butler, Martha (Darius) Crum, Rosie (John) Phillips, Judy (Glen) Rolen, and Wayne Bryant, all of Newport; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2000, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2000, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel with Elder Zenith Whaley officiating. Interment will be in Hannon Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Tip Williams, Leslie Mayfield, Jimmy Sauceman, W.L. Ball, E.C. Baxter, and Mitch Fine.
Costner-Maloy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
