Boyd Ford, age 86, and a Key West resident for 66 years, passed away on May 9, 2006, at Baptist Hospital in Miami. He was born May 4, 1920, in Browns, Tenn. Boyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy. Survived by his son, Robert Ford; daughters, Barbara Messer and Linda Curry; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Lon Ford, Edsel Ford, and Henry Ford; and Sister, Gladys Brown. Mr. Ford is a World War II Army Veteran. He was awarded the Bronze Star, National Defense Medal, European Theatre Medal and the Marksman Medal. He was loved by all who knew him and "he never met a stranger". The family received friends at The Dean Lopez Funeral Home, 418 Simonton Street, Key West, Monday, May 15, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Funeral service was held at The Key West Church of God, 1419 White Street in Key West, Monday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Raymond Schockley officiating.
