Arthur Ford, 70, of Newport, passed away suddenly Monday afternoon.
He was a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah E. Ford; parents, Irene and Fletcher Ford; sisters, Dorothy Ford, Rhoda Phillips, and Mamie Holt; and brothers, Jack and Dick Ford.
He is survived by his children: son, Jimmy and his wife, Mona Ford, and a daughter, Linda, and her husband, Donnie Cody, all of Newport; sisters, Gladys Brown and Echo McMahan, both of Newport; brothers, Lon and Edsel Ford, both of Cosby, Boyd Ford of Key West, Florida, and Henry Ford of Greeneville; grandchildren, Charlie Conard, Mary Caldwell, Missy Lane, Jimmy Ford II, Jamie Cody, and Christy Cody, all of Newport; four great-grandchildren; a special friend, David Brown, of Newport; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday morning at the Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert White and Charlie Conard officiating. Interment in the Ford Family Cemetery, where military rites will be provided by the L/CLP Charles C. Roberts D.A.V. Chapter 102.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Brown Funeral Home.
