Charles Love Ottinger II, born 31 October 1930 in Newport to Maurice Abraham and Florence (McMahan) Ottinger, died Saturday 13 January 2007 at his home. He was a graduate of Cocke County High School (1948) where he played on the football and tennis teams and sang in the school choir. He received a BS in Chemistry from Tennessee Tech (1952) where he taught chemistry and played on the college tennis team, and his MS from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville (1954). He served in the US Army in Germany with the 4th Medical Battalion, 4th Infantry Division (1954-1956). He served over 37 years at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as development chemist. Supervisor of radioisotope production, research and sales, and senior advisor (1956-1994). He married Marie (Matthews) Ottinger of the Alder Branch community in Sevier County in 1958. Mr. Ottinger lived at various times in Oak Ridge, Karns, Knoxville, Powell, and the Alder Branch community. He was active in Baptist churches (charter member of Cumberland Baptist, Knoxville, and most recently Alder Branch Baptist Church, Sevierville) as a choir member and Sunday School teacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Katherine Ottinger Ellis.

Funeral service 1 PM Tuesday at Alder Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Hutson officiating. The body will lie-in-state for one hour prior to the service.
