Cora Mae (Ford) Grindstaff, age 83, born February 7, 1927, went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2011 at 2:15 p.m. at Mercy Hospital of Newport, Tennessee. She was of Baptist faith, and a member of Allens Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Walter Grindstaff; father, Dr. Benjamin Parker Ford; and mother Maggie (Rose Raines) Ford.
She was the last survivor of 10 siblings. She is survived by her children Earl and Ota Gay Grindstaff of Cosby, TN, Barbara and Chuck Quintard of Georgia, John Martin and Evelyn Grindstaff of Newport, TN, Karen and Mike Click of Cosby; grandchildren Milissa Ball, Katrina Grindstaff, Leornard Earl and John Grindstaff, Gena Cohoon, Ashley Furgerson, and Daniel Messer; 9 great grandchildren; 1 to mention; several nieces, nephews and friends; and a special long life friend, Rachel (Ford) Kendrick.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011 in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. T. Berry Large and Rev. Doug Messer officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
