U.S. Veteran Robert Davis “Bob” Ford, age 79, of Parrottsville, passed away, Saturday, December 5, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville, following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty K. Ford; parents, John and Anner Davis Ford; and several brothers and sisters. He retired from the Unites States Air Force with 29 ½ years of service. During WWII he had served in the Navy and Army Air Corps. During Korea and Vietnam he served in the Air Force. He also worked for Jabos Pharmacy as a technician and was a member of Newport Masonic Lodge # 234, and Scottish Rite Kerbela Shrine. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ferne W. Ford of Parrottsville; children, Steven Phillip Ford and wife Karen of Kodak, Richard A. Ford of Sweetwater, James E. Ford, of Parrottsville, TN, Robert F. Ford, and Kathy Ford; step-daughters, Robyn Strange, Nona Nychyk and husband Tim, Charla Fox and husband G.T., of Ft. Myers, FL; brother, Nathan Ford of Parrottsville; grandchildren, Ronald P. Ford, Powell, TN, Robin K. Henderson, Jefferson City, Jeremiah Ford, California, Robert J. Ford, Ft. Irwin, California, Daniel D. Ford, California, Allison A, Holt, Seymour; step-grandchildren, Michael Barnes, Ft. Myers, Florida, Rebecca Nychyk, Gainesville, Florida, Gary Nychyk, The Dalles, Oregon, Tim, Nychyk, Brandis Rodriguez, Ft. Myers, Florida; several great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; and other family and friends. A Masonic service will be held 7:00 pm Monday, December 7, 2009 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, followed by funeral services, with Marta Cogburn and Rick Spell officiating. Burial will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, December 8, 2009 in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the service.
