Viola Black Ford
Died: 01-03-2005 On January 3, 2005, at 3:00 a.m. at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville Viola Black Ford was received into the hand of Jesus Christ—the redeemer, the savior, son of Jehovah God Almighty, amen.
Viola Black, born March 13, 1919, had a lifelong strong belief that Jesus Christ was indeed the only begotten son of our Heavenly Father.
She was a member of Black’s Chapel Church.
On April 11, 1935, Chan Freeman married Viola Black and Parker Ford Jr., who was born February 21, 1915, in the little mountain community known as Grassy Fork, of Cocke County.
Viola Black Ford was the fifth child out of seven born to James Adam Black, who was born in May 1878, and Eliza Jane McMahan, born January 11, 1888, and was the last living survivor of this family.
Viola and her one and only husband, Parker Ford Jr., raised a total of eight children—Donald “Don” Ford, born May 9, 1936; Vaughn “Von” Ford born August 29, 1938, deceased; Geraldine Ford Hall born August 10, 1940; Ted Marvin Ford born July 26, 1942; Rowena Ford Waldrop born April 14, 1944; Gary Ford born June 20, 1946; Marilyn Ford Arrowood born November 11, 1954; and Roger Ford born June 11, 1958.
Viola was a homemaker and worked her heart out to provide the best for her family.
Viola will be greatly missed by her seven children, her 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Viola’s in-laws are Dolly Mooneyham Black and Rosie Mooneyham Black, who are sisters, and the late Elliot Davis. Viola’s sister-in-law and lifelong special friend was Rhoda Wilds Black. Viola has many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to name, all of which she dearly loved.
Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Freeman officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 4, 2005, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
Family and friends will meet at Black’s Chapel Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, January 5, 2005, for the 11:00 a.m. interment in Black’s Chapel Cemetery.
Arrangements by Costner-Maloy.
