Charles ‘Chock’ Ottinger
Died: 02-03-2005 Charles E. ‘Chock’ Ottinger, age 76, of Parrottsville, went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Zollie Ottinger and sister Ruth Ottinger.
He was a member of Forest Hill Church for the past 49 years where he served as deacon and trustee.
Mr. Ottinger was a member of Newport Masonic Lodge #234 as well as being a member of the Shriners.
He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served his country with honor.
Mr. Ottinger was a Corrections Officer with the Cocke County Sheriff’s Department and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He served on the former Cocke County Court.
He is survived by his wife, Valire Ottinger; son, Truitt Ottinger and wife Kim; grandsons, Lucas and Jacob of Parrottsville; son, Todd Ottinger of Knoxville; brother, Jim Ottinger, of Newport; brother, L.B. Ottinger and wife Patsy of Newport; niece, Melissa Ottinger Leake, of Johnson City, Tn.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday February 5, 2005 in Luther Memorial Cemetery.
Family will receive friends 6-8 Friday at Manes Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
