Valire “Val” Coggins Ottinger, age 80, of Parrottsville, died Friday March 30, 2012, at UT Hospital in Knoxville after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Furman and Georgia (Ford) Coggins and as also preceded in death by her husband Charles “Chock” Ottinger, a brother Lucas Coggins, two nephews Jeffery Coggins and Don Smith. She retired from National Bank of Newport (now Tennessee) after 30 years of service and later worked at Wal-Mart. She is survived by her son and daughter in law Truitt and Kim Ottinger of Parrottsville, son Todd Ottinger of Knoxville, two grandsons Luke and Jake Ottinger both of Parrottsville; one brother and sister in law A. V. (Rip) and Gladys Coggins of Parrottsville; sister and brother in law Iva Lee and Gordon Denton of Parrottsville, sister Stephane Coggins Banks of Newport, sister in law Phyllis Coggins of Parrottsville, and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday March 31, 2012 at Manes Funeral Home with the funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. Interment will be 1 p.m. Sunday April 1, 2012 in the Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis.
