Jimmy Vinson Boyer , 94, Lt. Col. USAF, Retired, died on Saturday, July 5, 2008, in Austin, Texas. He was born in Newport, Tennessee on July 29, 1913.
Jimmy attended Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, Tennessee. He served his country in the USAF, retiring with the rank of Lt. Col. In the post-war period, Jimmy was a long-time civilian aviator, including twenty years as a commercial airline pilot.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Enid Virginia Boyer .
Jimmy is survived by his sons, J.V. Boyer , Jr. and wife Charlene, James R. Boyer and wife, Gwen; sister, Mildred V. Boyer ; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nephew, Creed Boyer , III. The family wishes to acknowledge Jimmy 's many friends and second family at The Continental retirement community for their support and love during his residence.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel.
