Lenora T. Allen, 95, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville. She was the oldest member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Allen; daughter, Fern Allen; great-grandchild, Bryan Allen Hartsell; eight sisters and one brother. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Sonny and Eva Lena Allen, of Newport; grandchildren, Jeff Allen, Janet and Terry Hartsell, all of Newport; great-granddaughter, Terra Hartsell, who was the sunshine of her life; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to Smoky Mountain Hospice. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2007, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Ransom Hall, the Rev. Jackie Swanger, and the Rev. Scott Gorrell officiating. Internment will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 7, 2007, at Shady Grove Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home is in charge.
