Lester Henry Mayfield, age 63, went to rest Friday, June 13, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, William Mayfield; sister and brother-in-law, Don and Maggie Shults; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary Lee and Ivan Shults. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Mayfield; son, Leslie Mayfield; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Tara Wedemeyer Mayfield; mother, Artell Gregg Mayfield; and his beloved granddaughters, Macenzie Starr, Cassie Maria and Averie Nichole, all of Cosby; brother, and sister-in-law, Phillip and Norie Mayfield; beloved niece, Erica Sunshine Mayfield; sisters, and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Eugene Sutton, Jo Ann and Kermit Hartsell; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of special friends. Private burial was held Saturday, June 14, 2008.

During the week I got to visit with several people and renew some friendships. One of the saddest pieces of news only came to me, as I read the Plain Talk obituaries and saw that Lester Mayfield had died unexpectedly. Although I called his wife, Glenda, to get more information and express my sorrow, she was too upset to talk, but I hope to get more information and let you know about a most interesting man. We were fortunate to have known him.
