Arrol Duke Shults, age 83, of Cosby, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Baptist Convalescent Center.
He volunteered and served, in both World War II and the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a lifetime member of the DAV, VFW, and MOPH. He retired after 28 years from Mohawk Milling Co.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie Barnes Shults; his parents, Horace and Zula Shults; sisters, Inelle and Ina Rae Shults; and brothers, David and Don Shults.
He will be missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Nina and Bud Webb, of Cosby; and by his daughter, Terrie Shults Barnes, of Cosby; and his granddaughters, Tera Webb, of Newport; Amanda Stiles, of Grassy Fork; and Kayla Webb, of Cosby.
He is also survived by his sisters, Evelyn Hawk, of Cosby; Miriam Keener, of Cosby; and Mary Henry, of Chattanooga; and a brother, Jim Shults, of Abilene, Tex. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, and special neighbors, Jim and Anne Byer, and their children, Jennifer, Bubba, and Jessica.
Services will be held at Manes Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 21, at 8:00 p.m. with the Reverend Ed Lemmond officiating.
Burial will be on Wednesday, June 22, at 11 a.m. at Union Cemetery with LCPL Charles C. Roberts Chapter 102 DAV officiating at the graveside service. The family will receive friends between 6-8 p.m. Tuesday night, prior to the services, at the funeral home.
