Cleo “Aileen” Smith Stokely, age 77, of Hartford, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012 at her home. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Aileen taught school for many years. She later retired from the U.S. Post Office as a rural letter carrier working from both Hartford and Newport post office. She was a charter member of the Board of Directors at Grassy Fork Rural Medical Clinic. She was preceded in death by her parents Euel and Cleo Bell Smith, infant sister Gladys, brothers Maurice, Denmon, and Keith Smith, sister-in-law Evelyn Roberts (Clyde), brother in law Houston Stokely. Survivors include her husband Willie Stokely, daughter Jennifer Stokely, son Johnny Wayne Stokely, grandchildren Dillon Denton, U.S.A.F., Germany, Taylor Denton of Newport, sisters Maxine Carrell, Marilyn Manes (Charles), Shirley Roberts (Burl), brothers-in-law Wiley Stokely(Willian), George Stokely (Sheila), Everett Worley, Curly Stokely, Ray Stokely(Reba), Johnny Burnett, sisters-in-law Nona Stokely, Brenda Smith, Edna Worley, Donna Garvin, Geri Stokely, Vangi Smith, Katherine Raper, along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral service will be 8:00 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012 in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Arthur Willis and Rev. Fred Cagle officiating. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Clark Cemetery-Deep Gap. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
