- Robert Rule was a farmer living in the vicinity of Rockford, Blount County. During the Civil war he served in Company A 3rd Reg't Tennessee Cavalry U. S. Volunteers, was a prisoner of war in "Castle Morgan", a military prison established by the Confederates in Cahaba, Alabama, and a survivor of the Sultana disaster.
