Clay Waide, 83, of Clovis, an electrical contractor, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at his home.
He was born on April 4, 1920, in Ochiltree County, Texas, to Garrett and Beulah Allen Waide.
He was a member of Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis. He married Nell Cogdill on Dec. 8, 1941, in Des Moines, N.M. He owned and operated Waide Electric in Clayton for 30 years. He served in the armed forces for four years in the Aleutian Islands. Family members said he was a kind, loving man to his wife, family and anyone else he thought needed it.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Waide; his parents; a sister, Hazel Jameson; and five brothers, Marshall, Connie, Waymon, Allen and Rob Waide.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Douglas Waide (and wife, Sue) of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Doyle Waide (Linda) of Mesa, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Reeser (Ray), Stacey Esquibel (Anthony), Kim Oglesby (Doug), Corey Waide (Angela), Lisa Caulderon (Brian), Alice Penner (Marty), Tommy Cunningham (Shawn), Andy Waide (Carrie) and Mandy Waide; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Cremation will take place.
Burial will be held at a later date at Clatyon Cemetery in Clayton.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis.
