Ray Ed Presnell, age 75, of Newport, TN passed away on Monday, August 22, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville, TN .He was of the Baptist faith. He retired in 1998 from Conagra after 40 years. He had an avid love for farming especially for his Black Angus Cows. He was a wonderful Dad, Grandfather and friend to all his family and those who knew him. He will be greatly missed and loved. He was born in the Gulf section of Cocke county on June 10, 1936 to the late Lindsey M. Presnell and the late Rhoda J. Ford Presnell. He was also preceded in death by brothers Parker Presnell, L.D. Presnell , Estel Presnell, Haskell Presnell and Mark Presnell; sisters Lizzie Presnell, Mabel Presnell, Opal Williams, Mamie Laws, Elvie Hartsell and Lula Davis. He is survived by his son Ray Scott (girlfriend Paula Luczak) Presnell of Newport; daughter Gladys Patricia (Anthony) Greene all of Newport; grandsons Anthony Daniel Greene and William Jacob Greene of Newport; sisters Cora Mae Holt and Shirley Griffith ; ex- wife Pauline Green Presnell; host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends ; special friend Doris Campbell Ellison. Funeral services will be 8:00 PM Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Presnell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 26, 2011 in Union Cemetery, Newport,TN.
