Bobby Wild announces candidacy for Road Superintendent
Bobby Wild of Del Rio is announcing his candidacy for Cocke County Superintendent of Roads in the May 4, 2010 Republican Primary.
Wild was born in Del Rio to parents John Bernard and Helen Suggs Wild. He attended Del Rio Elementary School and graduated from Cocke County High School. He also attended East Tennessee State University. Many local citizens knew Bobby's wife, the former Loretta Balch, who passed away in 2003 from cancer. She worked for Bell Telephone Company for many years. They have three children, Craig and wife Teresa Wild, Marty and wife Karen Wild and Stacy and husband Tony Dawson. Bobby has been blessed with seven granddaughters: Brittany, Erika, Bailey, and Lindsay Wild, and Abby, Maddy and Lilly Dawson. His sisters and brother are Elizabeth Parks, Sue Hawk and J. C. Wild. Bobby is a member of First Baptist Church and is an ordained deacon. He is a member of the Gideons and is a member of and serves on the board of The Del Rio Culture and Preservation Society.
Wild seeks to follow his ancestors and his son by serving Cocke County as Superintendent of Roads. Many older Cocke County citizens will remember Bobby's paternal grandfather Jud Wild, who was a staunch Republican and diligently worked for his candidates. John Royal Brooks, Bobby's maternal great-grandfather served two terms in the Tennessee General Assembly as a state representative from Cocke County. Wild's son Craig served as vice-mayor of Newport while still a student at the University of Tennessee.
He states he is well qualified to serve as Cocke County's Superintendent of Roads. He began his career in road construction at an early age working at Bush and Balch Construction Company which later became Bush Construction. Bobby and Robert (Brownie) Cody purchased Newport Construction Company. When they sold the business, he was employed by Newport Paving Company.
During the 35 years Bobby has worked in the construction business, he has traveled all of the roads in Cocke County. His travels allowed him to observe the progress of the road department through the years and observe the current needs. He feels he is, therefore, aware of the problems facing the Cocke County road system.
Wild says his former employment has given him extended experience in business management and adds this experience will be an asset when working with the Cocke County Road Commissioners and CLB to accomplish the goals of the road department. Bobby promises to exercise honesty and integrity when using the taxpayers money for the progress of the road system of Cocke County. He says he will demonstrate good leadership skills and honorable work ethics which the citizens of Cocke County deserve.
Wild said he will be pleased to serve as Cocke County Superintendent of Roads. "This accomplishment depends on you as you cast your vote for me on May 4. I will appreciate your vote and support," he added.
