Ruby Laverne McMahan Williamson faithful wife and loving mother went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2007 after an extended illness. Mrs. Williamson was a lifelong member of Laurel Springs Christian Church. She was a loyal friend to many people and was depended on for direct an honest guidance often rendered in humorous sincerity. She was preceded in death by her parents, Issac Allen McMahan and Annie Mae McMahan; sisters, Georgia Lindsey, Altha Valentine, Allie Garver, Estelle Jenkins, Vergie Valentine, and Bashie Smallwood; brothers, Artis Baxter, Clay, Stosel, Cecil, and Ardell McMahan. She is survived by her husband, Bill Williamson; children, Randall Smithpeters; daughters, Kathy McCarter, Myra and son-in-law, Mike Lewis; grandchildren, Anna Suggs, Renea and Dawn Smithpeters, Will Lewis, Rob Lewis and wife Deborah; great grandchildren, Gracee Suggs, Delani Smithpeters, Randi Owenby, Dylan and Jackson Lewis, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and a widely extended family and network of friends, including special friends, Roma Brown, Dorothy Williamson, an d beloved sister-in-law, Zelma Jenkins. The family will receive friends at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home on January 22, 2007 from 5 to 7 p.m. with the funeral service at 7 p.m. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on January 23, 2007 at Union Cemetery in Newport. The family would like to offer special thanks to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice and her caring nurse Charlie Grooms. The family also wants to say thank you for all of the cards, flowers, food, prayers, and visits from her many friends over this past year of her illness. Their thoughtfulness has been beyond her imagination. She has said many times that she was so happy that her friends came to visit her while she was living and could enjoy their visits.
