Robbie T. Sparks (nee McMahan), age 90, of Elyria, OH, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at the Kingston of Vermilion following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 10, 1920, in Cosby, TN and had been a resident of Lorain County, OH for 59 years. Robbie was a factory worker as well as a cook in the restaurant business. She was a member of the Toledo Road Church of Christ in Lorain. Robbie enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, flowers, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents John W. and Stella Lee (Green) McMahan; husband Frank Sparks, daughter Hazel Boyce, four brothers: Shellah, Honard, Gene, and John McMahan, Jr. and two sisters: Alberta Cook and Ellen Hill.
Survivors include her daughters Betty (Mitchel) Dutton of Elyria; Grace Parker of Elyria; Roberta (Eddie) Wiley of Vermilion; Debra (Roger) Adkins of Lorain; Stella Dickens of Elyria; and Iva (Jeff, deceased) Pratt of Grafton; secondary family Lorraine Miller, Dana (Ken) Auble, and Michelle (Damian) Roberts; 18 grandchildren and many great- and great-great-grandchildren; brother Arnold McMahan; and sister Flora Boyce, both of Elyria.
Additional survivors include scores of nieces and nephews living in Cocke County.
The family would like to extend special thanks to New Life Hospice and to Jerri and Bonnie for their love and support.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Road, Sheffield Township, OH with Evangelist Bob Eddy of the Toledo Church of Christ officiating.
Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, OH.
