Mabel Cureton departed her worldly home to be with her heavenly father on September 11, 2011. She had been in poor health for some time. Mabel was born to Clellan and Leona Williams in Sevier County on October 30, 1914. Later she and Clifford Cureton were married and made their home in the Cosby community. Mabel was a homemaker and worked part time in Gatlinburg and for Carvers Orchard in Cosby. Mabel was a long time member of Holders Grove Church where she taught Sunday school class and vacation bible school and where she received much joy from worship and fellowship. She will be greatly missed by friends and family. She was preceded in death by husband, Clifford, son David, her parents and brothers, Doyle, Kenneth, and Delmar. She is survived by her son Lloyd Cureton of Rochester, MN; daughter in law, Oveta Cureton of Cosby; three grandchildren, Kathleen Cureton of Bonita Springs, FL, Melisa Helton, Lenoir City, TN, and Steven Cureton of Rochester, MN; sister Melba Edwards of Virginia Beach, VA; brother Jack Williams of Knoxville, TN; several nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kris Brady officiating. Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Friday September 16, 2011 at Waters-Large Cemetery, Cosby, TN. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holders Grove Church, 4001 Holders Grove Road, Cosby, TN 37722. Family and friends may sign guest register online at www.manesfuneralhome.com.
