Robert Walter Ball, 60, of Newport, passed away Saturday, November 11, at the University of Tennessee Hospital, in Knoxville, following a short illness.
He retired from the Department of Defense, in 1995, where he was publication director for the defense system management college. He was in the US Air Force where he served in the Korean conflict and the Vietnam war.
He is survived by his wife, Sun Cha Shin Ball, of Seattle, Washington; daughters, Sandra Elizabeth Ball, of Seattle, Washington, Susan Audry Baucom, and her husband, Joel, of Charlotte, North Carolina; parents, Robert and Rachel Ball, of Newport; sister, Darlene Barger, and her husband, Bill, of Knoxville; brothers, Rev. Ottis Ball, and his wife, Radie, of Rockwood, Tennessee, Ricky Ball, and his wife, Cathy, of Newport; and grandchild, Conner B. Baucom, of Charlotte, North Carolina.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 18, at 2 p.m., at Unity Baptist Church with Rev. Ottis Ball officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
